Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government is drafting new policies to make it easier for the diaspora to return and contribute to national development.
Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said on Monday (10/2/2025) that the government is considering a scheme similar to India’s Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI), which offers lifetime visas, work permits, property ownership, and scholarships.
“We’ve studied OCI and its benefits for the diaspora, which could be adapted for Indonesia,” he said, as reported by antaranews.com.
The government also plans to simplify investment and work requirements for diaspora, encouraging them to contribute more effectively. Efforts to integrate data across ministries will also streamline services, including offering legal help and administrative support, for the diaspora.
“We’re working on a unified system for visa, residency, and citizenship services,” Minister Supratman added.
