inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) is working with Google and Meta through a keyword-based approach, to block access to online gambling content that uses certain words as markers.
"Through this collaboration, we strive to not only remove existing content, but also prevent the reappearance of similar content in the future. This is a step that we continue to strengthen to reduce the negative impact of online gambling in Indonesia," said the Director General of Information and Public Communication (IKP) of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Prabu Revta Revolusi on Monday (11/4/2024).
In addition to blocking content in cyberspace, the Ministry of Communication and Information is also intensifying cooperation with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and related banks to block accounts suspected of being involved in online gambling activities.
In October 2024, 325 accounts suspected of being involved in gambling activities were submitted for blocking.
While overall, 821 bank accounts have been identified by the Ministry of Communication and Information throughout the current government period.
The public is also urged to play an active role in supporting the eradication of online gambling, by reporting content suspected of being involved in online gambling activities.
