Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, advised the public to avoid peak travel times during the annual Eid al-Fitr exodus and return in 2024. This recommendation aims to alleviate congestion and ensure smoother travel experiences, as reported by antaranews.com The anticipated peak exodus spans from 5 to 8 April 2024, with the return expected from 13 to 16 April2024. Minister Budi Karya stressed the importance of early travel planning to mitigate traffic congestion, especially considering the Ministry's projection of a 50% increase in travel volume compared to the previous year. To facilitate smoother travel experiences, toll discounts are under consideration, similar to last year's initiatives. These measures are part of the government's efforts to optimize transportation during Eid al-Fitr. Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps Director Brigadier General Raden Slamet Santoso and Chairman of the Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI) Tory Damantoro have earlier highlighted the importance of staggered travel schedules to prevent overwhelming road capacity. They emphasize the need for infrastructure adjustments to accommodate the increased travel demand. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
