Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia made history as rowers Ali Mardiansyah and Rafiq Wijdan Yasir clinched a silver medal at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, China, on Thursday, marking the nation’s first-ever medal at the senior world level.
“This is historic. For the first time, we won a medal at the World Championships. It is a proud achievement for Indonesian rowing,” Head coach Muhammad Hadris told antaranews.com by phone on Friday (26/9/2025).
Competing in the lightweight men’s double sculls (LM2x), Ali and Rafiq clocked 6 minutes 47.40 seconds, finishing behind China’s Yawei Li and Man Su, who took gold with 6 minutes 44.90 seconds. Germany’s Joachim Agne and Paul Maissenhaelter claimed bronze at 6 minutes 50.24 seconds.
Indonesia also competed in the lightweight women’s double sculls, where Chelsea Corputty and Mutiara Putri finished fifth. Coach Hadris said the silver in Shanghai provides strong momentum for the national squad ahead of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
