inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian instructed regional governments to accelerate the implementation of pumping and irrigation programs.

He conveyed this direction while leading the Coordination Meeting (Rakor) for the Acceleration of Food Self-Sufficiency Facing the 2025 Dry Season which was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (6/3/2025).

"Because this is related to the problem of water availability in June, July, August, September which is considered critical, and several regions are to face the dry season, we continue to encourage the current production so that it does not decrease significantly," said Tito in his statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/3/2025).

He emphasized the importance of synergy across levels of government in strengthening primary, secondary, and tertiary irrigation networks. This is in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 2 of 2025 concerning the Acceleration of Development, Improvement, Rehabilitation, and Operation and Maintenance of Irrigation Networks to Support Food Self-Sufficiency.

The Presidential Instruction provides a legal umbrella so that the center, provinces, and districts/cities can work together and not work alone. According to him, this collaboration not only supports national programs, but also has a direct impact on food security and the welfare of farmers in each region.

Therefore, the Agriculture Service and Public Works Service (PU) in all regions are asked to be actively involved.

"Heads of the Agriculture Service of the province, district, city, please check the condition of the rice fields in each region that need water, and make sure of it. Heads of the PU Service of all provinces, districts, cities, check the availability of water including irrigation in their respective regions. Later there will be a special meeting regarding this," he concluded.
