inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto summoned Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin to the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (6/3/2025), to discuss the increasing trend of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia.
Health Minister Budi Gunadi arrived at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, at around 15:40 pm carrying a map. The Minister of Health also answered questions from the media crew regarding the findings of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia.
"(To talk about) COVID-19. More to that," said the Minister of Health in response to questions from the media crew regarding the discussion material of the meeting with the President at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (6/3/2025).
The Minister of Health acknowledged that the increasing trend of COVID-19 cases in several countries was indeed increasing, but these cases came from the Omicron JN.1 subvariant.
The Minister of Health explained that the trend of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia does not need to be worried about.
"Indeed, it has increased in other countries, but that variant is a subvariant of Omicron. So, it is the same as the subvariant we see which is JN.1. So, there is no need to worry," assured the Minister of Health.
On a previous occasion, the Acting Director General of Disease Control at the Ministry of Health, Murti Utami, said that in connection with the increase in COVID-19 cases in several countries in the Asian region, such as Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, there are a number of things that health units and stakeholders must do.
A number of these things include monitoring developments in the global situation and information related to COVID-19 incidents through official government and WHO channels, as well as increasing early warning by monitoring and verifying the trend of ILI/SARI/Pneumonia/COVID-19 cases through routine reporting of the Early Warning and Response System (SKDR).
Then, intensify the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and COVID-19 awareness, such as by implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle, washing hands with running water and using soap or using hand sanitizer.
