Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian confirmed on Monday (1/12/2025) that the central government will support all regional governments affected by recent disasters, regardless of their capacity to respond.
“The central government, whether a region says it is capable or not, will continue working and assisting from day one,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Minister Tito explained that some regional leaders have publicly admitted they cannot manage large-scale disasters. He noted it is reasonable for local administrations to request help, especially in severely affected areas. The ministry has assessed each region’s capability and continues providing assistance even to those deemed capable.
Several regions remain isolated due to landslides and floods, including Aceh’s Takengon, where relief supplies can only be delivered by air. Other areas, such as Central Aceh, have also declared they cannot handle the crisis due to limited heavy equipment and disrupted access.
