inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP), through the Mobile Brigade Unit of the West Sumatra Regional Police, deployed 300 personnel to assist with flood management and evacuate residents affected by heavy rainfall in Padang City, West Sumatra.
As of Sunday (11/10/2026), personnel remained on standby and continued the evacuation process in several affected locations.
The Head of Public Information for the INP Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, stated that the deployment of Mobile Brigade personnel represents a rapid response to assist communities affected by the disaster, particularly in rescuing residents and reaching flooded areas.
"We have deployed personnel and supporting equipment to assist in the evacuation of residents affected by the flood. The main priority is public safety, especially those who need assistance to leave the affected areas and reach safer places," Trunoyudo said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday (11/10/2026).
The 300 personnel from the West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit are led by the Commander of the West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit, Senior Superintendent Lukman Syafri Dandel Malik.
According to field reports, officers have evacuated approximately 300 residents from the Lumin Park Housing Complex. Meanwhile, in the Guo Kuranji area, personnel also evacuated 30 residents from the affected area. Officers continue to monitor and respond to the situation to ensure that those still in need of assistance receive prompt assistance.
To support the rescue process, the West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit deployed various search and rescue (SAR) equipment, including rubber boats, outboard motors, life jackets, SAR helmets, ropes, carabiners, pulleys, and body harnesses. This equipment is used to ensure personnel safety and assist with the evacuation process in areas affected by the flooding.
In addition to rescue equipment, the police also operate support vehicles such as personnel transport trucks, buses, special SAR vehicles, and other operational vehicles. This support was used to mobilize personnel, transport equipment, and support the implementation of tasks at several flood-affected areas.
At the Lumin Park Housing Complex, one of the primary response locations, personnel established a search and rescue (SAR) post in the Lubuk Minturun area, Koto Tangah District. Meanwhile, teams assigned to Dadok Tunggul Hitam and Guo Kuranji were on standby to assist with the response, depending on conditions on the ground.
Trunoyudo emphasized that INP will continue to optimize relief efforts and coordinate with relevant agencies to address the impact of the flooding. In addition to evacuations, monitoring regional conditions and meeting the needs of affected communities are also key priorities in disaster management.
"Personnel in the field continue to carry out humanitarian duties, prioritizing public safety. We also urge the public to remain vigilant for potential flash floods, follow the directions of officers, and immediately seek safer ground if conditions around their homes become dangerous," he concluded.
