Hundreds of Human Traffic Cases Uncovered as Thousand Perpetrators Arrested

Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police took action against 836 cases of human trafficking (TPPO) from June 5th to September 13th September 2023, done by the TPPO traffic corps formed by the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The Head of the Public Affairs Bureau of INP Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan states that from the unraveling of the hundred cases, 1,004 have been arrested and identified as perpetrators. “From these hundreds of cases, 2,618 victims have successfully rescued,” said Ramadhan, Thursday (9/14/2023). In perpetrating the crime, perpetrators lure the victims with various methods. Most of the case, perpetrators entice the victims with high salaries as Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) or Household Workers (PRT) with total case reaching 520. Other modus operandi carried out by the perpetrators are exploiting the victims as Commercial Sex Workers (PSK) comprising of 278 cases. There are also offer as Seafarers with 7 cases, followed by 69 cases of child exploitation.
