Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon), under the auspices of PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI), reported an astounding trading value of IDR 29.2 billion on its inaugural trading day on Tuesday (26/9/2023).
Jeffrey Hendrik, BEI's Director of Development, unveiled at a media briefing that the exchange witnessed an impressive trading volume of 459,953 tCO2 (tons of Carbon Units) across 27 transactions on its first day.
Of note, there were 15 buyers and a single seller in the mix, with Pertamina New and Renewable Energy (PNRE) being the sole seller, providing Carbon Units originating from the Lahendong Unit 5 and Unit 6 projects of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO).
IDXCarbon commenced trading in the Regular Market with an opening price of IDR 69,600 and concluded at IDR 77,000, antaranews.com reported.
Breaking down the trading sessions, 17 transactions were recorded in the Regular Market, with 3 in the Negotiated Market and 7 in the Auction Market.
IDXCarbon officially debuted at the Main Hall of BEI on September 26, 2023.
What sets IDXCarbon apart is its integration with the National Climate Change Control Registry System (SRN-PPI) under the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). This integration streamlines the administrative processes for carbon unit transfers while effectively preventing any instances of double counting.
Companies, particularly those committed to voluntary reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, have the opportunity to become IDXCarbon service users and engage in Carbon Unit trading.
To participate, companies can commence by registering on the IDXCarbon website. Project owners with Carbon Units already registered in SRN-PPI can conveniently sell their units via the IDXCarbon platform.
