The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police held a press conference regarding the disclosure of fraud and/or embezzlement and alleged money laundering in the illegal Umrah pilgrimage operation by PT. Tajak Ramadhan Group (TRG) on Friday (6/26/2026).
The press conference was led by the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Wisnu Wibowo.
In the alleged illegal Umrah pilgrimage operation by PT. Tajak Ramadhan Group (TRG), police not only charged the suspects, IGM, the head of the TRG Umrah travel branch, and AN, the manager, with fraud and/or embezzlement, but also applied the Money Laundering Law to trace assets suspected of being derived from the proceeds of crime.
Wisnu stated that investigators have coordinated with various agencies, including banks, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), to trace the flow of funds and assets belonging to the suspects suspected of originating from the crime.
"To date, we have received more than 13 complaints, with 218 prospective pilgrims as victims and losses estimated at approximately IDR 7 billion. Therefore, investigators are implementing the Money Laundering (AML) Law to not only uncover the crime but also trace assets suspected of being the proceeds of crime," said Wisnu.
One of the pieces of evidence seized by investigators is a 36/91 m² house with ownership certificates located in Anawai Village, Wua-wua District, Kendari City, based on a special confiscation permit from the Kendari District Court.
"We want to help the victims who have been wondering where their money went. Therefore, investigators are implementing the Money Laundering Law to trace assets suspected of being the proceeds of crime. We will handle this case professionally until the entire legal process is complete," stated Wisnu.
Meanwhile, H. Muhammad Lalan Jaya, Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for Southeast Sulawesi Province, expressed his appreciation for the swift action taken by the police in solving the case.
"We appreciate the resolution of this case. We also continue to remind the public, especially those who have no experience performing the pilgrimage abroad, to be careful when choosing an Umrah travel agency. Ensure the travel agency you choose has an official permit, which can be verified through the SATU HAJI app," he said.
