inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police launched a 10,000 Tree Planting Movement, which was carried out simultaneously across all South Sumatra Regional Police units as part of a series of events commemorating the 80th Bhayangkara Day in 2026.
The activity was led by the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho.
The greening movement was launched at the Wirabhakti Stadium, Paakri Complex, Palembang, on Sunday (6/28/2026).
Sandi stated that the activity symbolized the police's commitment to supporting environmental conservation and fostering a culture of concern for environmental sustainability.
A total of 10,000 tree seedlings had previously been distributed by the South Sumatra Regional Police's Human Resources Bureau to 19 work units and police precincts for simultaneous planting in various strategic locations.
This movement is expected to improve environmental quality, expand green open spaces, and provide long-term ecological benefits for the people of South Sumatra.
In addition to commemorating the 80th Bhayangkara Day, this activity also demonstrated the police's commitment to environmental conservation.
Tree planting is expected to improve air quality, strengthen water absorption, reduce the risk of environmental damage, and raise collective awareness of the importance of preserving nature.
"The trees planted today are not only to commemorate the 80th Bhayangkara Day, but also to be a green legacy that will benefit our children and grandchildren in the future," said Sandi.
