Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) has prepared 968 locations nationwide to implement community service sentences as Indonesia begins enforcing its new Criminal Code (KUHP) in early January 2026.

Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto said the facilities were prepared through coordination between probation offices, local administrations, and partner institutions. 

“We have coordinated with regional administrations and partners to support non-custodial community service sentences as mandated by the new KUHP,” Minister Agus said on Saturday (3/1/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The sites include schools, places of worship, city parks, orphanages, and Islamic boarding schools. In addition, 94 Griya Abhipraya probation centers will supervise offenders during sentence execution, supported by more than 1,800 partner institutions.

The policy aims to reduce prison overcrowding while improving rehabilitation outcomes. Community service will be imposed by court rulings and implemented under probation supervision, based on social assessments and prosecutorial execution. 

Minister Agus said pilot programs in 2025 involved more than 9,500 participants and showed positive results.
