Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Immigration took decisive action on Monday (20/4/2026)  by detaining three Pakistani nationals for operating an illegal human smuggling ring that used Indonesia as a transit hub for voyages to Australia.

"The suspects organized illegal sea departures to Australia through eastern Indonesia, charging victims thousands of dollars under the guise of legal employment," said Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko, as reported by antaranews.com..

The trio, identified as SA, MS, and MWK, allegedly recruited victims via social media, promising safe passage from Tangerang to Maluku before heading offshore. Investigations revealed the syndicate's mastermind, SA, operated a fraudulent travel agency to facilitate the smuggling of fellow Pakistani citizens.

The case has been declared complete by the Attorney General’s Office, with the suspects now facing up to 15 years in prison and heavy fines under the Immigration Law.

Authorities confirmed that the suspects will be handed over to the Tangerang Prosecutor's Office for trial.
