inp.polri.go.id - Pulang Pisau. Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Iwan Kurniawan planted corn in the third quarter on social forestry land in Kalawa Village, Kahayan Hilir District, Pulang Pisau Regency, on Wednesday (7/9/2025).

This corn gardening activity is part of the national food security program initiated by the Indonesian National Police (INP). 

The Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief explained that the third quarter corn gardening was a form of INP's support for President Prabowo Subianto's Asta Cita program, particularly regarding national food security.

"Today, we are simultaneously planting corn for the third quarter in 13 regencies and one city in the province, on social forestry land and active land from the first and second quarters. The total planted area reaches 7,109 hectares, with an estimated harvest of 28,438 tons," said Iwan after the planting.

He added that in addition to corn, his team also planted 100 sengon tree seedlings on a 5-hectare plot in the Pulang Pisau area.

"In Kapuas Regency, 5,000 coffee, jengkol, and petai seedlings were planted. In Katingan, 500 additional perennial seedlings were planted, while in North Barito, 90 cocoa seedlings were planted," he added.

According to him, this activity not only focuses on food security but also encourages the utilization of idle land and improves the economy of the community, especially local farmers.

"We hope that in the future, corn production in Central Kalimantan can be maximized, thereby supporting national food security as a whole," he said.
