Indonesia Ends 16-Year Wait for Uber Cup Medal

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. After 16 years, Indonesia's women's badminton team secured a long-awaited medal by reaching the 2024 Uber Cup final in Chengdu, China, on Sunday (5/5/2024).

Led by Apriyani Rahayu, they won the runner-up title, facing defeat with a 0-3 score against the host team. 

Reflecting on the experience, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo highlighted the valuable lessons learned during this prestigious event, especially in handling crucial points and enhancing mental strength, as reported by antaranews.com 

Despite the loss, Ester felt satisfied with her performance against the formidable opponent, He Bing Jao. 

She credited the full support from the Indonesian team for bolstering her spirits amidst the intense pressure from the home crowd. 

This marked Indonesia's 11th Uber Cup final appearance, positioning it as the second country with the most final showings. 

In addition to Esther, the Indonesia’s team for Uber Cup consisted of Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, Ruzana, Apriyani Rahayu, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, Ribka Sugiarto, Lanny Tria Mayasari, Rachel Allessya Rose and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari.
