Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian Embassy in Ankara inaugurated the Indonesian Community Center (ICC) on Friday, aiming to deepen cultural and community ties between Indonesia and Turkey.

Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, Achmad Rizal Purnama, explained on Saturday (23/11/2024) that the ICC will serve as a hub for Indonesian language courses, cultural workshops, and art performances to showcase Indonesia’s rich culture to the Turkish public.

“The ICC will play a crucial role in hosting social and cultural activities while supporting Indonesia’s diaspora and community organizations in Turkey, particularly in Ankara,” he said in a statement, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The center will also serve as the headquarters for the Indonesia-Turkey Friendship Association, which includes influential Turkish businesspeople and academics committed to strengthening bilateral ties.

Around 8,000 Indonesians currently reside in Turkey, including students, professionals, and those married to Turkish citizens.

The Indonesian community in Turkey has established various organizations, including the Indonesian Student Association with branches in 18 cities. The ICC is located at the former Indonesian Embassy office in Ankara.
