Inp.polri.go.id - Kendal. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has asserted that Indonesia is prepared to compete against Singapore and Malaysia’s Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Johor.

“We are not afraid to compete with them because we have strong assets and the credibility we have built,” he said on Wednesday (7/8/2024). 

Minister Luhut acknowledged that Singapore and Malaysia would be formidable competitors in SEZ development, with Singapore focusing on high-quality human resources and Malaysia on land and energy availability.

“Johor will provide competitive land and energy resources, while Singapore will offer high-quality human resources,” he added, as reported by antaranews.com.

Despite these challenges, Minister Luhut emphasized Indonesia’s abundant energy resources and the importance of maintaining credibility to attract investment. He stressed that credibility and trust, rather than just incentives, are crucial in competing for investments.

He also noted that President Joko Widodo's leadership, set to conclude in October 2024, has created a lasting legacy that will continue to benefit Indonesia.
