Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Muhammad Herindra assured the Indonesia remains safe despite last week’s unrest across several cities, while investigations continue into those behind the violence.
“The situation is safe. We are investigating the mastermind of the riots,” he told reporters after meeting President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (4/9/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The riots included the burning of regional council buildings, police posts, and looting of homes belonging to lawmakers and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
Chief Herindra declined to disclose details, saying only that he delivered “important information” directly to the president.
President Prabowo also summoned Aries Marsudiyanto, the Head of the Special Development and Investigation Agency, who said the president emphasized unity and open dialogue.
“If communication and coordination remain strong, Indonesia will take off toward progress,” he said.
