Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government, represented by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, expressed a desire for the partnership with China to continue thriving, bringing prosperity, stability, and opportunities for both nations' populations.
"May our partnership continue to flourish, bringing prosperity, stability, and opportunities for the people of Indonesia and China," stated Minister Airlangga during the Reception of The 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China in Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/9/23).
He reaffirmed the significance of Indonesia's economic cooperation with China, marked by the longstanding close bilateral ties between the two nations, with China being one of Indonesia's largest trading and investment partners.
In 2022, Chinese investments reached USD 8,2 billion, securing the second-highest position in Indonesia. Total trade between the two countries in 2022 soared to approximately USD 133 billion, marking a remarkable 20 percent surge from the previous year.
The Minister underscored the importance of nurturing a strong and enduring relationship between the two nations. The ten-year-old Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Indonesia and China holds great significance for both countries.
He highlighted that bilateral cooperation continues to expand, particularly in critical sectors like infrastructure development, eco-friendly industries, and the digital economy.
"As a testament to our commitment to the digital economy, I am pleased to announce that the Minister of Commerce of China and I recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of digital economy and e-commerce," he stated as reported by antaranews.com.
Elaborating further, he explained that the MoU serves as the foundation for joint exploration between companies from both countries to integrate Artificial Intelligence, enhance commercial circulation, optimize transportation systems, strengthen digital finance, and advance digital healthcare services. The Minister assured that the Indonesian government remains dedicated to fostering partnerships that yield mutual benefits.
In his concluding statement, he extended Indonesia's appreciation to China for their support of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific, particularly during Indonesia's Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2023, and for their collaborative efforts towards achieving prosperity and stability in the region.
