Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka announced a new reciprocal visa-free policy for Indonesians and South Africans during the Indonesia–Africa CEO Forum in Johannesburg on Friday (21/11/2025).

The policy is presented as a direct outcome of the recent bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in Jakarta last month, according to antaranews.com.

“The visit of President Ramaphosa a few weeks ago reflects our strong cooperation. Both Presidents agreed on visa-free entry, so I believe this is good news for all of you. There will be no more visa requirements,” Vice President Gibran said, drawing applause from South African business leaders.

The new travel arrangement aims to boost economic ties, ease corporate mobility, and accelerate investment projects between the two countries. Vice President Gibran highlighted Indonesia’s commitment to expanding foreign investment in agribusiness and energy sectors in South Africa, while positioning Johannesburg as a gateway to wider African markets.

He also welcomed the signing of a new strategic industry MoU, adding that Indonesia wants to “build the future with Africa.”
