inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has been confirmed as the host of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has begun preparing a security scheme to ensure the safe and smooth running of all international football matches.
Security preparations are not only focused on the match venues. The Polri is also preparing to support the smooth mobility of the teams, including travel to and from training venues.
This was stated by the Assistant Chief of Operations of INP, Commissioner General Fadil Imran, while attending the Coordination Meeting on Government Support for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Building, Jakarta, Monday (8/10/2026).
The meeting was chaired by Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir and attended by several ministries, institutions, and regional governments involved in preparations for the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup.
During the coordination meeting, Fadil was accompanied by the Head of the Traffic Corps, Inspector General Wibowo.
Fadil stated that the police will optimize security, drawing on their experience securing various previous sporting events.
"We, the police, will certainly optimize security. The sports industry are ecosystems that the police must also understand. We are definitely giving our full support," Fadil said.
According to Fadil, the police will also evaluate and improve several security aspects. Several stadiums that will be used for matches have also undergone assessments.
Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in West Java and Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium in Jakarta are said to have met the requirements for use as match venues.
"We have already assessed almost all matches on soccer fields frequently used by the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI)," Fadil said.
In addition to match security, the police are also preparing to support the smooth travel of teams to and from training grounds. One such effort is through the use of the PTIK Field as the Indonesian National Team's training ground.
"We will continue to improve other matters related to the smooth flow of activities to and from the training ground, including our support for the use of the PTIK Field for the national team's training," said Fadil.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir stated that the government fully supports Indonesia as the host country. The President has also issued a Government Guarantee, which has been sent to FIFA.
Erick stated that negotiations regarding the host contract are still underway. According to him, the contract content is not much different from that for the U-17 World Cup, which was previously held in Indonesia.
The hosting of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup is a historic moment, as it will be the first time the event will be held in Indonesia.
The government hopes that this competition will not only be a football match but also a momentum to introduce Indonesia to the world.
