Indonesian Citizens Safe in Sydney Stabbing Spree

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  No Indonesians were victims of the stabbing spree in Sydney on Saturday afternoon (13/4/2024), according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The incident occurred at the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping center in Sydney, Australia, according to antaranews.com. "We reached out to Indonesian community networks, and as of now, there are no reports of Indonesian victims in the attack," said Judha Nugraha, the Director of the Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Residents Abroad at the Foreign Ministry,. He noted that approximately 10,000 Indonesian citizens reside in Sydney, predominantly comprising students and migrant workers. The stabbing claimed five lives, with others in critical condition at the hospital. The perpetrator was shot dead by the police. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
