Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) uncovered a major counterfeit currency ring in Banten on 1 April  2026, arresting five suspects involved in the distribution of high-quality forged US Dollar banknotes.

"We have arrested five people allegedly involved in this counterfeit distribution network, including brokers and the primary supplier," said Senior Superintendent Arsya Khadafi, the Chief of the Mobile Investigation Unit (Resmob), as cited by antaranews.com.

The operation commenced in Cikupa, Tangerang, where undercover officers intercepted three brokers during a transaction, seizing 874 forged $100 bills. Follow-up raids in Rangkasbitung and Balaraja led to the capture of the main supplier and an intermediary, alongside several mobile devices used for coordinating illegal sales.

The suspects and evidence have been transferred to the Directorate of Economic and Special Crimes for further interrogation. Investigators are currently tracing the production source to determine if the syndicate has links to wider international counterfeiting networks operating within Indonesia.
