Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government expressed deep condolences to France on Sunday (19/4/2026)after a French peacekeeper was killed during an attack in southern Lebanon on Saturday, despite a standing ten-day ceasefire agreement.

"Any attack against UN peacekeepers is unacceptable and may be categorized as a war crime under international law," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in an official release as reported by antaranews.com.

The ministry emphasized that the ongoing negotiations and ceasefire must be fully respected to prevent further escalation. This latest incident follows a series of repeated attacks on United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) personnel, which Indonesia views with grave concern. Having lost three of its own personnel in March, Indonesia stands in solidarity with all troop-contributing nations.

Jakarta reiterated its demand for the UN Security Council to launch a thorough investigation into these violations. Authorities urge all parties to uphold international humanitarian law and ensure the safety of personnel dedicated to regional stability.
