Inp.polri.go.id - Cilegon. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has announced that specialized police units will be stationed directly aboard passenger ferries to prevent criminal activity and ensure public safety during the 2026 Lebaran homecoming season.
“We have prepared security personnel to be stationed on ships, particularly in high-risk areas prone to criminal activity or security disturbances, to ensure that travelers feel protected throughout their journey,” he said during a inspection at Merak Port in Cilegon, Banten, on Friday (13/3/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Chief Sigit instructed regional commands in Banten and Lampung to optimize real-time monitoring via Command Centers and maximize the use of alternative ports to mitigate perennial congestion.
He also urged the public to utilize the 2,746 established security and service posts, reminding travelers to purchase ferry tickets online in advance.
