inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo highlighted the important role of the media in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

At the "Breaking the Fast with the Press" event at INP Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday, he stated that technological developments are currently progressing very rapidly, including the emergence of AI deepfakes, which have had a tremendous impact.

He stated that based on the Global Risk Report, one of the factors causing global impact is misinformation and disinformation.

"It's not only global, but also permeates domestic situations and our daily lives, and of course, this is a challenge for us all," he said.

Therefore, he said, the media is the public's hope for delivering factual and trustworthy information.

"This way, the public won't be overwhelmed and carried away by the extraordinary amount of misinformation and disinformation that is occurring, especially on social media," he said.

Sigit also hopes that the media can become a tool of control and communication that represents the voice of the public, especially for INP and other institutions.

He also invited the media to participate in synergy in maintaining national security stability.

"Therefore, of course, we express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to our friends in the media who continue to provide information," he said.
