inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP), General Suyudi Ario Seto, confirmed that police personnel who violate the policy banning the use of e-cigarettes or vapes will face sanctions.

"If they vape with the non-dangerous or the usual liquid, we will impose disciplinary action. However, if they contain the dangerous narcotics, they can be prosecuted," said Chief Suyudi at the Main Meeting Room, INP Headquarters, Jakarta, on Monday (11/2/2026).

On the same occasion, the Head of INP Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that the policy demonstrates their commitment to preventing narcotics use, particularly liquid narcotics through vape cartridges.

"To anticipate the risk of consuming liquid narcotics, disguising them, and the difficulty of detecting them, we need to ban these devices," he said.

He noted that the vape ban policy has been implemented in several ASEAN countries, including Singapore and Thailand.

Furthermore, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia has also issued a policy prohibiting vaping for its employees.

As a proactive and anticipatory measure, INP has implemented this policy in response to the ever-changing methods of drug abuse and distribution.

Isir added that the police are also encouraging the public to monitor vaping by police personnel as a form of horizontal oversight.
