Inp.polri.go.id - Depok. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has instructed the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) to strengthen public security measures in response to escalating global geopolitical tensions.
Speaking at the Brimob Technical Working Meeting on Tuesday (21/4/2026), he emphasized that conflicts involving major powers could disrupt global energy supplies and impact Indonesia's domestic stability.
"If disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz continue, oil prices could surpass 200 USD per barrel, affecting economic stability and potentially leading to domestic security issues," Chief Sigit said, as quoted by antaranews.com..
The Chief warned that rising fuel and LPG prices might trigger social unrest. Consequently, he ordered 7,000 elite personnel to conduct simulations and evaluate field readiness. As the police's special force, Brimob is expected to maintain a humanitarian approach while securing the country against potential disturbances linked to international volatility.
