Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has issued a direct mandate to track and arrest the armed criminal group (KKB) responsible for shooting at a Smart Air aircraft in Korowai, Boven Digoel, South Papua. 

The attack, which occurred on Wednesday, targeted a plane carrying 13 passengers arriving from Tanah Merah.  The plane pilot and co-pilot, identified as Captain Egon and Captain Baskoro Adi Anggoro, were shot to death in the incident.

"We have ordered our officers on the ground to conduct a pursuit. We already have a clear picture of their identities," Chief Sigit confirmed on Friday  (23/12/2026)during a press briefing in West Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com

The Chief of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, identified the attackers as members of the Kanibal Battalion and the Semut Merah Battalion, led by Elkius Kobak from the Yahukimo region.
