Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo addressed strategies for managing the 2024 Eid homecoming traffic flow during an inspection at Km 414 Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Semarang, Central Java.
He emphasized three key points on Wednesday (3/4/2024), as reported by antaranews.com.
Firstly, with a 56% increase in travelers this year, measures are needed to ease traffic congestion. Additional toll exit gates will be deployed, staffed by personnel equipped with card reader machines to expedite traffic flow, Chief Sigit said.
Secondly, ensuring traveler safety by reducing traffic accidents is crucial. Chief Sigit urged travelers not to overexert themselves while driving and to utilize designated rest areas and posts.
Lastly, starting homecoming journeys early can help alleviate congestion during peak periods. Free homecoming services provided by the government on 6-7 April 2024, offer an alternative. Chief Sigit emphasized that even with one-way traffic measures in place, overcrowding may still occur, necessitating proactive measures.
