Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) officially deployed 140 officers under the Garuda Bhayangkara Formed Police Unit (FPU) 8 Minusca contingent to Bangui, Central African Republic, for a United Nations peacekeeping mission on Thursday (1/10/2026).
Head of the INP International Relations Division Inspector General Untung Widyatmoko said following the departure ceremony at the INP headquarters in Jakarta that the contingent comprises 114 male officers and 26 female officers. The unit will rotate and replace the outgoing FPU 7 team in Bangui to assist with maintaining political and security stability amid heightened local dynamics.
"Their primary focus will remain civilian protection and maintaining political security stability in Bangui, which currently remains volatile," he noted, adding that Indonesia stands as the fifth-largest contributor to UN peacekeeping forces.
FPU 8 Minusca Task Force Commander Senior Superintendent Alex Frestian Lumban Tobing confirmed that officers underwent seven months of pre-operational training at the INP International Mission Center in Serpong, South Tangerang, as reported by antaranews.com.
An advance team of 14 officers will depart on Saturday to conduct handover logistics, while the remaining 126 officers will follow a week later for full operational rotation.
