Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has mobilized resources, field officers, and operational infrastructure to combat forest and land fires as El Nino and the peak dry season intensify across the archipelago.
The operational readiness plan was detailed during a Coordination Meeting on Forest Fire Prevention led by INP Deputy Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo at the INP Headquarters Command Center in Jakarta on Thursday (30/7/2026). The meeting convened senior police officials, regional police chiefs via video conference, and representatives from the Ministry of Forestry, the Ministry of Environment and other relevant agencies
INP Head of Public Relations Division Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir said that police units are accelerating preventive actions through integrated patrols, real-time hotspot tracking, and cross-agency coordination.
"The INP Deputy Chief instructed all ranks to secure operational readiness and safety equipment. Prevention efforts must remain the top priority through joint patrols, early warning systems, and close inter-agency collaboration," he said.
Across Indonesia, the INP has conducted 151 readiness assemblies, 29 regional alert meetings, 180 field preparation exercises, and 2,850 public education campaigns involving Bhabinkambitbmas community police and Babinsa military village officers. Furthermore, over 168,000 land and water patrols have been carried out alongside the Indonesian Military (TNI) units, local administration, Forestry Ministry’s Manggala Agni firefighters, and local communities, supported by drone surveillance for rapid hotspot mapping.
To support real-time monitoring, police operate integrated command centers across Riau, Jambi, West Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan linked directly with national forestry and search-and-rescue systems. On-the-ground support includes localized water source mapping such as retention basins, canals, and drilled wells and four water-bombing helicopters dedicated to high-risk zones.
