inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) deployed 403 personnel from the Forest and Land Fire Prevention Education and Counseling Task Force to eight regional police regions as a step to strengthen prevention efforts through direct public education.
The deployment of the Education Task Force follows up on the President's directive to the Chief of Police to strengthen forest and land fire prevention measures, particularly through education and providing understanding to communities in fire-prone areas.
The eight regions being assigned include the Regional Police of West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Sumatra, Riau, and Jambi.
The Head of the INP Education and Training Institute (Kalemdiklat), Commissioner General, Panca Putra Simanjuntak, stated that the hundreds of personnel will be deployed in stages and will be subsequently placed according to the needs and conditions in each region.
"We have deployed 403 personnel across eight regional police units to conduct outreach and education for the public. This is a follow-up to the President's directive for the National Police to strengthen forest and land fire prevention efforts through direct public education," said Panca in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (8/26/2026).
According to him, the implementation of the Education Task Force's duties will be coordinated by each regional police unit. Personnel will work in teams and be accompanied by regional personnel to provide education in various locations requiring strengthened forest and land fire prevention measures.
"We hope that, in addition to law enforcement measures, these prevention efforts through education can be carried out in an integrated manner. Based on evaluations, one of the causes of forest and land fires is human negligence. Therefore, the public needs to be continuously educated on the importance of preventing forest and land fires," he explained.
To carry out their duties, Task Force personnel have been equipped with various educational tools, including presentation equipment, laptops, screens, and outreach materials in the form of brochures and flyers. The outreach will be distributed and placed in several public spaces to educate the public about the dangers of forest and land fires, their impacts, and the legal provisions governing the prohibition of forest and land burning.
Through the deployment of this Education Task Force, the INP hopes that forest and land fire prevention efforts can be further strengthened through active community involvement, thereby minimizing the potential for fires early on.
