inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) urges all elements of society who wish to express their aspirations to exercise their right to express their opinions in public in an orderly, peaceful, and responsible manner.

The INP emphasizes that freedom of expression is a right of every citizen, guaranteed by Law Number 9 of 1998 concerning Freedom of Expression in Public. However, in its implementation, this freedom must be accompanied by respect for the rights and freedoms of others, compliance with laws and regulations, and maintaining public security and order.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of INP, Inspector General Johnny Edison Isir, stated that the police is ready to provide services to the public who wish to express their aspirations so that all activities can proceed safely, peacefully, orderly, and conducively.

"We are ready to provide services to the public who wish to express their aspirations. We respect the right of every citizen to express their opinions in public. We hope that all activities can proceed in a peaceful, orderly, and conducive manner," said Johnny, Wednesday (8/26/2026).

According to him, expressing opinions is an important part of democratic life. Therefore, public aspirations are expected to be expressed peacefully while still respecting the rights of others.

"We invite all protesters to work together to maintain a peaceful and orderly situation. Express your aspirations respectfully while respecting the rights and freedoms of others, while carrying out activities safely and comfortably, while simultaneously maintaining and safeguarding public order and security," said Isir.

The INP also reminded the public not to be easily influenced by unverified information or calls that could incite actions detrimental to the common interest.

"Freedom of expression must go hand in hand with responsibility. Let us maintain a healthy democratic space, so that every aspiration can be expressed in an orderly, peaceful, and responsible manner," he said.

The police hope that all parties can contribute to maintaining a conducive situation during the public expression of opinions. With cooperation and shared awareness, it is hoped that the expression of opinions in a democratic era can proceed smoothly without disrupting the rights of others to carry out their activities.
