Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) have dismissed Inspector Kosmas K. Gae with dishonorable discharge (PTDH) after his involvement in the tactical vehicle crash that killed an online motorcycle taxi driver during protests near the House of Representatives (DPR) complex on 28 August 2025.
“Dishonorable discharge as a member of the National Police,” said INP Public Relations Division Head of Public Information Bureau Chief Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko on Wednesday (3/9/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He explained that Inspector Kosmas, then Commander of Battalion A, Mobile Brigade (Brimob)’s IV Regiment, acted unprofessionally in handling the protest, which led to the death of Affan Kurniawan. In addition to dismissal, the officer received an ethics sanction for “disgraceful conduct” and served six days in special detention.
Inspector Kosmas and the armored vehicle’s driver, identified as Senior Brigadier R, were charged with “serious violations,” while five other Brimob members face medium-level sanctions. Senior Brigadier R’s ethics trial is scheduled for Thursday.
The fatal crash occurred amid clashes between police and protesters in Palmerah, Senayan, and Pejompongan areas.
