Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) have elevated 98 corporate-related forest and land fire cases to active investigation status as authorities step up legal enforcement nationwide.
INP Chief Gen. Suyudi Ario Seto announced the move at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (19/10/2026). He explained that investigators are gathering key evidence to formally identify and charge responsible parties.
"As of today, the INP Criminal Investigation Agency has opened investigations into 98 corporate-related cases," he said. "Investigators are still collecting evidence so that we can name suspects in the near future."
Chief Suyudi emphasized that criminal liability will extend beyond corporate entities to individual business owners and shareholders proven responsible for the fires. Legal actions and formal suspect designations will depend on the strength of evidence collected during the ongoing proceedings.
