Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Criminal Investigation Agency has named suspects in an illegal logging case linked to flooding in North Sumatra, marking a major step in the ongoing investigation.

The case concerns alleged environmental crimes in watershed areas spanning South Tapanuli and Central Tapanuli.

“We have formally named suspects, both a corporation and an individual,” said Brigadier General. Moh. Irhamni, the Director of Certain Crimes at the Agency, on Tuesday (6/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

The decision followed a joint case review with the Attorney General’s Office last week. Investigators found that logs at the crime scene were traced to PT TBS, with at least 16 company witnesses questioned so far. Authorities believe the illegal logging contributed to severe environmental damage and flooding.

Chief Irhamni said that the suspects will face charges under environmental crime laws and money laundering statutes.
