Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking (Satgas TPPO) of the Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police (INP) and various regional police have made significant progress in rescuing TPPO victims. From June 5th to July 10th, 2023, a total of 2.027 individuals were rescued from TPPO.

Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of Public Affairs Bureau of the INP Public Relations Division, revealed that many of the victims had been deceived with false promises of high-paying domestic worker (PRT) positions. Unfortunately, their departures were carried out illegally, and they did not receive the wages they were promised.

"We have taken action in 445 cases with this modus operandi," he stated at the INP Headquarters in South Jakarta on Tuesday (11/7/23).

Furthermore, he highlighted that cases involving victims of commercial sexual exploitation (PSK) were also prevalent, with 188 cases. Additionally, there were 45 cases of child exploitation and nine cases involving ship crew members (ABK).

The Satgas TPPO established under the leadership of the Chief of INP Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has successfully uncovered a total of 644 cases thus far.

"A total of 749 suspects have been arrested," he said.

He also conveyed a message from the Chief of INP, urging the public to exercise caution and not easily fall for offers of high-paying jobs, both within the country and abroad. The Chief of INP also emphasized, he added, the importance of verifying the legitimacy of employment agencies to ensure individuals receive social protection, welfare, and their rightful legal rights.
