Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Special Economic Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Criminal Investigation Department is scheduled to conduct a case review this week on Panji Gumilang's alleged money laundering case.
"His case will be reviewed this week," said Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan, the Drector of Special Economic Crimes, on Tuesday (31/10/2023).
He said that that the case review would involve internal stakeholders such as the INP's General Supervisory Inspector and external stakeholders such as experts.
The INP investigators handed over the Panji's blasphemy case to the prosecutor's office. He is now under the prosecutor's office detention.
The INP investigators recommended that his trial should not be held in his hometown of Indramayu, based on a number of considerations.
Panji was the head of a controversial Islamic boarding school in Indramayu, West Java, that triggered public controversy over its teachings, including unorthodox treatment of women and use of Hebrew.
He was named a suspect in the blasphemy cases that is punishable by a maximum 10 years in prison and a money laundering case.
