Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian National Police (INP) is to recruit around 10,000 people for deployment across Papua, scheduled from 2024 to 2028, to bolster law enforcement efforts in the region. According to Inspector General Prof. Dr. Dedi Prasetyo, Assistant for Human Resources to the INP  Chief, the recruitment for 2024 is slated for April, targeting 2,000 recruits who will undergo training at the State Police School (SPN) in Java. He said the importance of active promotion by police chiefs in Papua, urging them to raise awareness about the recruitment drive, especially among Indigenous Papuans and those born in Papua, as reported by antaranews.com. The recruits will undergo a five-month training program in Java before temporary deployment to the Papua region for orientation before their official duties. In addition to general recruitment, 150 paramedics, including doctors, will be enlisted in collaboration with Cenderawasih University. Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri, the Papua Regional Police Chief, acknowledged the challenges posed by the vast area and emphasized the need for more personnel to enhance community services. He hoped that the increased number of police personnel would improve service outreach across the Papua region, which includes Papua, Papua Mountains, Central Papua, and South Papua provinces.
