inp.polri.go.id - East Kalimantan. The East Kalimantan Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate, received assistance from the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Unit in handling wildfire cases involving corporations.

The event also included case presentations at the investigative level for three wildfire cases handled by the Berau Sub-regional Police, the East Kutai Sub-regional Police, and the Paser Sub-regional Police.

The event took place on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM in the East Kalimantan Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate Meeting Room while also held online via Zoom.

During the event, the INP Criminal Investigation Unit provided guidance and assistance to the East Kalimantan Regional Police's Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation and its staff regarding the handling of forest and land fire cases suspected of involving corporations.

The discussion then continued with case presentations on three reports of information being handled by each regional unit.

After presentations and discussions on each case, the case presentation participants agreed that the handling of the three cases could be upgraded from the pre-investigation stage to the investigation stage.

During the investigation process, the three cases will be investigated under Article 98 or Article 99 in conjunction with Article 116 of Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management.

This assistance is part of an effort to strengthen the quality of handling forest and land fire cases, particularly those related to corporate activities. The synergy between the Criminal Investigation Unit of INP, the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the East Kalimantan Regional Police, and the relevant police departments is expected to ensure that every law enforcement process is carried out professionally, objectively, and in accordance with statutory provisions.

Through this step, the East Kalimantan Regional Police reaffirms its commitment to not only prioritizing forest and land fire prevention and mitigation efforts, but also to firmly enforce the law against any parties found responsible for forest and land fires in East Kalimantan.
