Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Aan Suhanan and Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan met with Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono at Gedhong Wilis on Friday (2/23/2024). The visit by INP key officials was to discuss the Smart City program. “We and the INP Traffic Corps this year will operate or build Smart City based on Road Safety Policing which prioritized traffic security and safety,” said the Head of INP Traffic Corps. Through the Smart City program based on Road Safety Policing, the people of Yogyakarta will receive various information relating to the traffic which could improve the safety quality and suppress the numbers of traffic accidents. “It would provide information regarding traffic conditions, suggesting on when we should implement traffic engineering with provided algorithms, when should an underpass or flyover be built at an intersection, or the duration of red lights,” said Aan. Aan hopes that with the Smart City program, the safety and security of Yogyakarta would be improved and public service is getting better with the technology development. Meanwhile, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X says that the program collaborating with INP could also improve city government service to the public, particularly in the comfort and security sector. He also adds that the program might be able to resolve traffic jam issues in cities and regencies across Yogyakarta. (ad/ta/pr/nm)
