Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps has announced traffic engineering plans, including localized one-way and contraflow systems, to manage the anticipated surge in vehicle traffic during the 2024 year-end holiday season.

Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Aan Suhanan highlighted critical points along toll routes in Semarang and Semarang-Solo during his inspection of local infrastructure on Thursday (28/11/2024).

"Central Java, particularly within its local agglomeration zones, requires contraflow and one-way systems to handle peak traffic," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com..

Central Java and East Java are expected to be major destinations for travelers from western regions. Popular tourist areas, such as Dieng, Borobudur, Karanganyar, Malioboro, and Gunung Kidul’s beaches, are predicted to draw significant crowds, accounting for 47% of total holiday movements.

Authorities anticipate traffic to increase starting 21 to 22 December 2024, with a peak return flow on 1 January 2025. Traffic management around tourism hotspots and main routes will be adjusted as necessary.

Travelers are urged to stay informed through updates from relevant agencies to ensure smooth and safe journeys during the holiday season.
