Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni reaffirmed the government’s support for Papua’s indigenous communities by granting approval for social forestry management in Kampung Imsar, Nimboran District in a bid to empower local populations through sustainable land use.
"We hope this approval for social forestry management will significantly benefit the indigenous communities here," he said on Thursday (28/11/2024).
The move is part of the central government’s broader strategy to enhance community welfare and promote sustainable forestry practices in Papu, according to antaranews.com.
The minister noted that the program is designed to make indigenous lands more productive, enabling residents to generate higher incomes.
"By increasing their earnings, families can better afford education, healthcare, and other essential needs," he said.
The program builds on ongoing efforts to integrate social forestry into community-driven economic and environmental strategies across Indonesia, aiming to create a sustainable future for both the environment and indigenous populations..
