Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Special Crimes Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Criminal Investigation Agency uncovered a smuggling ring that exported illegal gold to Hong Kong using body strapping methods on Tuesday.

"Investigators arrested suspect R upon arrival from Japan at Soekarno-Hatta Airport," said Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni, the Director of the Special Crimes, on Wednesday (26/8/2026). "The location served as a refining center before gold was strapped to bodies for smuggling."

Following suspect R's arrest, police raided a house in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, identified as the headquarters of a Chinese citizen, identified as GCZ, who remains at large. 

Authorities seized refining equipment, cash, and transaction documents. The police plans to coordinate with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to track financial flows, freeze assets, and pursue international suspects involved in the network.
