Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Makassar City Sub-regional Police in South Sulawesi’s capital of Makassar uncovered a Jakarta-Makassar narcotics network linked to international syndicates, seizing more than six kilograms of methamphetamine and arresting seven suspects.
“Seven suspects were detained with approximately six kilograms of meth, valued at over Rp12.1 billion,” said Makassar Police Chief Senior Superintendent Arya Perdana during a press briefing on Saturday (23/5/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The case began with the arrest of a suspect identified as EP in Makassar, followed by the arrest of suspect WM in West Jakarta. Further investigation led to arrests in Pekanbaru, Riau, where three suspects were caught with five kilograms of meth.
Chief Arya confirmed four of the suspects are repeat offenders in drug cases since 2018. They face charges under Indonesia’s Narcotics Law and Criminal Code, carrying penalties from six years in prison to the death sentence.
