Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The total of monkeypox cases in Jakarta has increased to 34 as new cases reported on Sunday (11/12/2023) night.
"The monkeypox cases in Jakarta has been updated per November 12th, 2023, at 19:00 with the total cases amounting to 34. One of the patients are those from August 2022 and has recovered," says Jakarta Health Office Immunization and Epidemiology Surveillance Head Ngabila Salama in her statement on Monday (11/13/2023).
As it is known, the monkeypox could transmit from human to human through close contact with the infected. The mpox virus could transmit by being close, touching, kissing, and sexual interaction with the infected.
From the last report of Jakarta Health Office, the current total case shows there are five new infected. Currently, there are 33 monkeypox patients who are being isolated in the hospital. Data shows all patients are men with the age of 25-50.
“All showing mild symptoms and all of them contracted to the virus via sexual interaction,” says Salama.
