Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta administration has confirmed plans to extend the Light Rail Transit (LRT) network from its current terminus to the Ancol area in North Jakarta, aiming to enhance mass transportation accessibility for residents and tourists.
Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo confirmed that following the completion of the Phase 1B line connecting Pegangsaan Dua to Manggarai, which is expected by early 2027, the network will expand further. Officials are currently finalizing plans to either connect Manggarai to Dukuh Atas or extend the route from Kelapa Gading through to Ancol.
"The line will pass through the JIS station in Tanjung Priok and the Ancol area," he said on Sunday (1/3/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The proposed extension to Ancol will directly serve the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), a premier venue for international football matches, major concerts, and Persija Jakarta football club home games. This move aims to alleviate traffic congestion and provide robust, reliable public transport solutions for the high volume of visitors attending events at the stadium and surrounding recreational areas.
