inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Regional Metro Police Chief, Commissioner General Dadang Hartanto, invited teachers at Muhammadiyah 5 Elementary School, Kebayoran Baru, to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) literacy to students from an early age. This step is considered crucial for equipping children with technological knowledge while developing critical thinking skills.
Dadang made this call during the Police Care for Education program at Muhammadiyah 5 Elementary School, Kebayoran Baru, on Monday (10/18/2026). He emphasized the importance of optimizing the AI laboratory as a means of introducing technology, developing knowledge, and training students' communication skills.
"Those who master technology will rule the world," Dadang said his visit at Muhammadiyah 5 Elementary School, Kebayoran Baru, on Monday (10/18/2026).
He believes that children's curiosity and logical thinking skills need to be continuously honed through engaging learning. Simple questions, such as why machines can talk, can be a starting point for students to understand technology and develop critical thinking.
"Therefore, teachers are encouraged to provide space for students to ask questions, explore, and understand basic concepts through simple, engaging, and repetitive learning," he said.
Dadang also encouraged educators to implement focused, easy-to-understand learning methods that don't burden students too much. He believes the learning process needs to be tailored to the child's abilities in absorbing information.
In religious education, he emphasized the importance of understanding the meaning of the teachings, not simply memorizing the material. One way to achieve this is through learning the Quran, introducing the meaning of each word and the rules of tajweed, so that students can read and understand the values contained therein.
"One way to achieve this is through learning the Quran, introducing the meaning of each word, complemented by an understanding of the rules of tajweed, so that children are not only able to read but also understand the values taught," he said.
In addition to developing knowledge and character, Dadang emphasized the importance of creating a safe and comfortable school environment for children. Students need to be accustomed to respecting their peers, avoiding bullying, and having the courage to raise concerns with teachers or parents if they experience anything that makes them uncomfortable.
"The presence of police in educational settings is also expected to make children increasingly familiar with the police as friends who can provide protection and assistance, including through the Police 110 service in emergencies," said Dadang.
